Tracadie Historical Museum

This museum presents the history of leprosy in New Brunswick and the leprosariums of Sheldrake Island and Tracadie between 1844 and 1965. Learn about the beginnings of French health care in the Maritimes and the education work of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint-Joseph congregation. Explore history on the heritage walking trail leading to the historic leper cemetery. A public art display from artist Marika Drolet-Ferguson, a project from Concordia University, depicts leprosy on Sheldrake Island.
