Be the power that lets you see and do more
When you enjoy one of New Brunswick’s scenic road trips, you are treated to an experience you’ll remember. But when you hit the road—or trail, or path—by bike, you add an extra dimension to your travels. You can turn down even the most narrow side path. You can explore places you otherwise may not have imagined. In New Brunswick, cycling isn’t just a healthy and fun way to get from A to B. It’s a way to enjoy more of everything the province has to offer.
If you’re a road cyclist you’ll discover a buffet of biking options, from country roads that tour through rural towns and rolling countryside, to seaside vistas and deep evergreen forests, to gentle grades along rivers and challenging inland hills. Be sure to try the Acadian Peninsula’s Veloroute, a 600 km (373 mi.) network of paved on-road and off-road trails.
For more casual cycling on gently rolling urban paths, check out the always-growing network of trail systems in New Brunswick’s cities. In Fredericton, there are over 120 km (75 mi.) to explore, on both sides of the Saint John River. And in Moncton, the trail network follows the winding Petitcodiac River—be sure to stop and check out the tidal bore on your way! No bike? No worries. You can rent one in most local cycling shops.
Up for some gravel grinding? For an extra layer of adventure and challenge, explore abandoned railway beds, forestry roads or even seaside dykes. You’ll be in for an epic ride on these much-less-travelled paths. And if mountain biking is your jam, well just you wait—our mountain bike page is all about you.
