Inch Arran Lighthouse (Bon Ami)

This 1870 lighthouse stands on a point with a panoramic view of Chaleur Bay. Originally called the Bon Ami Point Light, it was converted to a range light in 1972 and is still active. The original wooden, salt-shaker tower has a unique ‘birdcage' lantern. It's a perfect spot for birdwatching and it's also just 100 m (328 ft.) from beautiful Inch Arran Park, where you'll find a sandy beach, campground, food, gift shop and a Visitor Information Centre. International Appalachian Trail (Tide Head to Perth-Andover)

The International Appalachian Trail is a 3,058 km (1,900 mi.) trail running from Maine to Newfoundland. The New Brunswick portion of the trail enters New Brunswick at the border of Fort Fairfield, Maine and Perth-Andover. It tracks northeast through Mount Carleton Provincial Park and up and over the highest point in the Maritimes. The trail then leads north to Tide Head and crosses into Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula at Matapédia.

Irishtown Nature Park offers kilometres of maintained trails. Interpretive signage showcasing the park as the city's first water supply is installed along a multi-use trail accessible for walkers, joggers, wheelchairs and cycling. Trails are groomed for walking in the winter. The park's trails are also excellent for bird watching. A feeding station maintained year-round attracts many species: chickadees, nuthatches, yellow finches, purple finches, hairy and downy woodpeckers, and doves.

Irving Nature Park

Just minutes from the city of Saint John is an oasis of forest and marsh, beaches and trails. This attraction contains no less than six different ecosystems within the 243-ha (600- acre) site with a diversity of flora and fauna. There are 11 km (7 mi.) of rugged Bay of Fundy coastline. The park was created to protect this fragile area, yet allow the public to come and learn about it. Park staff members offer free guided tours. The geological history of this area is fascinating.

James C. Yerxa Nature Preserve

The James C. Yerxa Nature Preserve sits on the Keswick River, a short distance from its confluence with the Saint John River, just north of Fredericton. Visit the preserve to see a protected silver maple floodplain forest, as well as a waterfowl staging area for bird migration. Two rare birds, the cinnamon teal and the glossy ibis, and one rare plant, Rugel's plantain, have also been spotted on this preserve. It is one of the Nature Trust of New Brunswick's smallest preserves, with two small pieces of land totaling 3 ha (7 acres), but it remains ecologically significant.
