The trail begins at a dyked wetland behind Tantramar Regional High School, then skirts the Tantramar Marsh. After crossing several working farms near Midgic, the trail then passes through an isolated stretch of boreal forest, before emerging at Route 16 near the community of Baie Verte.

Two rare birds, the cinnamon teal and the glossy ibis, and one rare plant, Rugel's plantain, have also been spotted on this preserve.Artists from near and far have been known to be inspired by this piece of land.

The Old (Loyalist) Burial Grounds

This area was set aside as a public ground in the original town plan (1783). In April 1848, it was closed to further burials by an Act of the Provincial Legislature. The grounds were restored by the Irving family in 1995 in memory of the late K. C. Irving (1899-1992), founder of the Irving empire of companies. Granite paver pathways, historic style lamps and a unique beaver fountain were added to revitalize this graveyard.

These original, wooden salt-shaker towers, which are still active, were built as a pair in 1895, and were designed to work as a team; one as a front range, the other a rear range. Located within the boundaries of Parlee Beach Provincial Park, they are also in a private cottage zone. The Loyalist House

NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE Loyalist House was constructed from 1811 to 1817 by David Daniel Merrit, a Loyalist from Rye, New York. The oldest building in the city of Saint John, it survived the Great Fire of 1877 due to servants surrounding it with wet towels. The Merrit family continuously occupied it for nearly 150 years, and in 1959 it was acquired by the New Brunswick Historical Society.

Sea Dog Cove Nature Preserve

Bursting with blooms on the Kingston Peninsula!On the historic Kingston Peninsula, at the Sea Dog Cove Nature Preserve, you'll find 700 m (2,296 ft.) of Kennebecasis River shoreline and 3 km (2 mi.) of hiking trails. It is vegetated with bulrushes, sedges and a riverine forest of ash, cedar and red maple and includes a small meadow leading to the shore on the western side of the property. Known for being particularly beautiful in the late spring, you can see diverse flora and fauna at this nature preserve, including pink lady's slippers.

Meenan's Cove Beach

Meenan's Cove Beach is nestled in a secluded cove on the attractive Kennebecasis River. It features changing rooms, washrooms facilities, a ball field, beach volleyball courts, walking trail, picnic facilities, and playground for small children. A boat launch and docking facilities are accessible for boating enthusiasts. Lifeguards are on duty for the summer months. Meenan's Cove Beach House, located on the water, is available for bookings and features a large deck, kitchen facilities, washrooms, and a propane fireplace.
