Miramichi History Museum

Originally founded in 1897 the museum houses an extensive collection of natural and cultural history artifacts and is one of the most unique museums in New Brunswick. The museum is also center for genealogy and historical research for Miramichi ( includes shipbuilding history).

Joseph B. Michaud Blacksmith Museum

This historic museum displays antique tools and equipment used in the blacksmithing profession. It is located in a former blacksmith shop once owned by Joseph B. Michaud, who plied his trade for 62 years. The museum highlights the trade of blacksmith; its impressive collection of artefacts show the changes brought by the transition from horse power to engines.

RB Studio - Art Centre & Gallery

The Loomcrofters Studio building is one of the oldest buildings in New Brunswick, dating to about 1789. Hampton Visitor Information Centre

Stop at the Hampton Visitor Information Centre, located in the old Railway Station, to receive information about this region of the province, such as: • Travel assistance and itinerary planning • Information about events, attractions and festivals It is also home to the Railway Heritage Site, where visitors can view railway artifacts and peruse information on display. You'll also find a gift shop featuring the work of local artisans.

Smokehouse Museum

Cap-Acadie is North America's largest exporter of smoked herring. Inside the Information Centre, the Smokehouse Museum demonstrates the history and techniques learned from French and Aboriginal knowledge. Interpretive panels, photographs, and old tools illustrate this traditional way to preserve a family's food supply, which later became a major commercial enterprise. Today about 20 smokehouses in Cap-Acadie still smoke herring, exported mainly to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
