Inside the Information Centre, the Smokehouse Museum demonstrates the history and techniques learned from French and Aboriginal knowledge. Interpretive panels, photographs, and old tools illustrate this traditional way to preserve a family's food supply, which later became a major commercial enterprise. Today about 20 smokehouses in Cap-Acadie still smoke herring, exported mainly to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Richiboucto Head Lighthouse

This attractive 1864 lighthouse has an original wooden salt-shaker tower with alterations done in 1988. This active lighthouse is located on an elevated bluff overlooking the Northumberland Strait. There is a working wharf within view of the lighthouse, it's adjacent to cottages and a campground and Cap-Lumière Beach is nearby. This is a good seaside picnic location. Driving directions: Routes 11 and 134, then Route 505 to Cap-Lumière Road.
