Callanders Beach

Salt and fresh water beaches, unsupervised, with washrooms and shorebird areas in the Kouchibouguac National Park. This is one of two excellent beaches within this spectacular national park. Callanders overlooks the warm water of the lagoons and is a great place for a leisurely swim and a picnic lunch. Of course there's more to do than just swimming! Bring your binoculars and try to spot some of the 225 bird species in the area. You'll see osprey, eagles, geese, the endangered Piping plover and many more. Park interpreters welcome all comers to guided nature walks.

This 1903 salt-shaker style lighthouse has a yellow navigation light. It is located on the Acadian Coastal Drive, 8 km (5 mi.) north of Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada, located on a very small parcel of land adjacent to residential properties. For your enjoyment, there is a beach across the road. There is limited parking. This lighthouse is operational and an active aid to navigation. It has a square white pyramidal shaped wooden tower with a red-square lantern and a red-vertical stripe on the corner facing the alignment.
