The first Maisonnette Oyster Festival took place in 1972. More than 50 years later, it has kept its original goal of promoting oysters from Caraquet Bay and helping the various non-profit organizations in the village. Live music, oyster chucking contest, oyster-themed dinners, children's entertainment and many more activities take place over the long Thanksgiving weekend in October, the heart of the oyster fishing season.
