Fundy Trail Parkway Beaches (Big Salmon River, Melvin and Pangburn)

The ultimate Bay of Fundy eco-adventure.Drive the paved parkway that hugs the coastal cliffs. Lace up your hiking boots or take your mountain bike and explore the trails. The trails connect to paths and stairways which lead to pristine beaches and tumbling waterfalls, Precambrian rocks, or 250-m (820-ft.) cliffs that tower at the water's edge. If that doesn't take your breath away, check out the view - the trail has been carved out of the Fundy Escarpment, one of the last remaining coastal wilderness areas between Florida and Labrador. Most of the elements of the Fundy ecosystem exist within this area, including the dramatic Fundy tides. You can explore as far as Big Salmon River. Guided tours to Hearst Lodge and packages are available. Enjoy a family outing on one of the new guided interpretive walks. At the Interpretive Centre you'll find a snack bar, restroom facilities and a small retail outlet, plus original artifacts and old photos from a bygone era - back when logging, fishing and shipbuilding were an economic mainstay of this region. Near the Interpretive Centre there is a suspension footbridge across the Big Salmon River, which serves as the beginning of the Fundy Footpath. The Fundy Footpath is a continuous wilderness trail from Big Salmon River on the Fundy Trail Parkway to the boundaries of Fundy National Park of Canada, a total distance of 41 km (21 mi.). When completed, the trail will establish a spectacular, scenic coastal link between Saint John, Sussex and Moncton, integrating The Fundy Trail Parkway, Fundy National Park of Canada and The Hopewell Rocks into a consolidated group of first-class coastal tourism attractions which will collectively create a world-class "Signature" destination area. The Fundy Trail Parkway - spectacular from every view! A must-see attraction!
