As you open the door, you smell cedar. How soothing it feels! Your hosts' warm greeting makes you feel that you're entering a peaceful refuge. As they show you around, you notice with delight that there is bread baking and a big pot of seafood chowder simmering on the stove. You hear music playing and the sound of songbirds. It's as if you're reconnecting with another world, another part of your consciousness. In your room, the windows are open, and a soft, salty breeze is wafting in from Chaleur Bay.

Government House

NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE AND PROVINCIAL HERITAGE PLACE This building had been a hospital and a barracks for World War I soldiers, and for more than 50 years it housed RCMP headquarters. Today, it has been restored and returned to its former glory and is once more in use as the official residence of New Brunswick's Lieutenant-Governor.

Grand Falls Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning from May to October, come to the farmers market situated across from the Grand Falls Gorge, featuring seasonal farm-fresh produce, baked goods, homemade jams and jellies, pickles, preserves as well as arts and crafts items. Our exhibitors will never cease to amaze you! Come for breakfast or lunch with the family and enjoy and savor good home-made cooking in Papa Joe's Kitchen. The new food court was named in honor of the late Joe Savage, a well-known and respected farmer. Listen and dance along to local music and enjoy local culture.

Grand Falls Gorge

Bring your camera to capture the Grand Falls Gorge, one of New Brunswick's best kept secrets! Discover the 1.6 km (.6 mi.) walking trail located along the spectacular gorge and appreciate breathtaking views from various lookouts. It is also possible to explore our famous gorge on a zip line. To better appreciate the gorge, walk down 401 steps to witness the wells in the rocks and be dazzled by this natural wonder. Grand Falls gorge simply amazing and naturally gorgeous.

Grand Manan Art Gallery

The Grand Manan Art Gallery is a non-profit public gallery featuring art exhibitions and workshops. The gallery showcases a series of exhibits that feature both local and visiting artists. Works of historical value are also displayed in the permanent collection gallery. The gallery is a beacon for the creative community and for those who love the arts. Opening night receptions offer insight into our island's creative community and provide a terrific opportunity to meet featured artists and others.

Grand Manan Farmers Market

Farmers Market featuring: fresh vegetables in season, herbs, cut flowers and perennial plants, homemade bread, pickles, fudge and pies; lots of crafts, knitting, needlework, candles, soap, leather goods, photography and hot coffee.

Grand Manan Museum

Community-owned museum with collections and exhibits reflecting many aspects of the island's fishery, navigation, cultural history, and natural sciences. It houses over 24 permanent exhibits, including the Allan Moses Gallery of 300 taxidermy birds and a touch screen of bird calls. Recent additions include marine tidal murals and new outdoor exhibits. The tax-free shop features the varied work of many Maritime artisans. Public evening programmes in both arts and sciences run twice weekly throughout July and August.

Hole-in-the-Wall

The Hole in the Wall rock arch is a landmark attraction carved by the magnificent Bay of Fundy. Visit this privately owned hiking park to see the arch, along with hiking trails and viewing decks that overlook herring weirs and offer unmatched views of the Bay of Fundy. Keep a lookout, because there’s always the possibility of a whale sighting! A special treat for children is the Discovery Trail, a 10-minute walk to the rock arch where keen eyes can spot objects waiting to be discovered.

Hyla Park Nature Preserve

Just outside of Fredericton's downtown core, you can find Hyla Park Nature Preserve—Canada's first amphibian sanctuary and a hidden urban gem.After the uncommon gray tree frog (Hyla versicolor) was discovered in this area, the land was set aside to preserve and protect its population and habitat. Visit the park and listen to the flute-like trilling sound of this tiny frog. Also, keep a lookout for the busy beavers, migratory birds, and rare plants that can be found in the park, including red milkwort, purple gerardia and small-flowered gratiola.

Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Reserve and Interpretive Centre

Johnson's Mills is a critical feeding and resting site for the shorebirds that fly through the Bay of Fundy on their fall migration. Approximately half of the world's population of semipalmated sandpipers feed on the mudflats during peak migration (mid August). The best time to see the birds is two hours before, to two hours after high tide. Managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Johnson's Mills Shorebird Interpretive Centre is located 8 km (5 mi.) from the Village of Dorchester.

Kahoutek Ski Club

The Kahoutek Ski Club maintains more than 20 km (12.5 mi.) of groomed cross-country ski trails open to club members and visitors. Trails allow for both classic and freestyle cross-country skiing. Snowshoers will also find several kilometres (miles) of trail for their enjoyment. All trails begin at the community centre located in the back of the E. and P. Sénéchal Center.

Kenneth Maple Farms

This 54,000-tap operation presents a video on the history of syrup making and has taffy-on-the-snow available. Maple syrup, jelly, lollypops, maple butter, granulated sugar, maple candy, maple-peanut spread, chocolate-covered candy and gift trays are available for purchase. Hours of operation can be extended by appointment and school tours are also available. All you-can-eat breakfasts are served in March and April Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kent Museum

This beautiful convent built in 1880 and overlooking Bouctouche Bay is now a provincial historic site. Visit this architectural treasure and learn about the history of the place, tour exhibits and find quilts, crafts and various items available to purchase at the shop. You can even go up the convent tower to ring the bell.

Lutz Mountain Heritage Museum

The Museum is a heritage building built in 1883. Pioneer artifacts, cemetery and genealogy records of early permanent settlers of greater Moncton. Meeting room available for public use year-round.
