Charlo Salmonid Enhancement Centre

The Charlo Hatchery (CSEC) was built in 1938 and has been stocking New Brunswick rivers for over 70 years with Atlantic salmon and Brook trout. The hatching survival of salmon in the wild can be as low as 10%, however in a hatchery it is seldom less than 85%. Since 1998, 4,419,799 salmon and trout raised to various stages of development at the CSEC were stocked in the rivers of New Brunswick. The centre also undertakes projects, pilot studies and research which has touched all aspects of the fishery.

Dixon Point Lighthouse (Front Range)

This is one of the many fine lighthouses that dot the coastline and inland waterways of New Brunswick. The Dixon Point Lighthouse was built originally in 1881. It was replaced in 1919 with an attractive salt-shaker-style design. The front range is still active. This lighthouse stands on a very small footprint of land with a good view of the Bouctouche Dune Lighthouse, which is practically inaccessible, at the end of the Bouctouche Dune sandbar.

Magaguadavic River No. 7 Covered Bridge (Flume Ridge)

Built in 1905, this covered bridge is 18 m (60 ft.) in length. Driving directions: Route 3 near the Charlotte and York county lines, Flume Ridge Road 8.7 km (5.4 mi.), Mill Road 1 km (0.6 mi.), at Flume Falls.

Blackville (Miramichi River Valley)

Carleton Park is located on the city's trail network, North Riverfront Trail, making it an ideal destination from the south side of Fredericton by way of the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge.

The Carrefour Beausoleil community centre features an annual program of events and cultural activities taking place in the Gilles-Laplante Theatre. Activities, mainly in French, include music, comedy, dance, drama and children's shows. Contact the centre for a schedule of concerts, shows, exhibitions and workshops featured throughout the year.

Blackie's Farm Market

Blackie's Veggies is a 5-ha (12-acre) farm producing top quality vegetables. Every vegetable at the stand is grown on the farm and hand-picked on a daily basis by the farmers themselves, ensuring freshness and best quality. Come and try some of "Blackie's Awesome Corn". Follow the signs at the end of the road as you drive up the long farm driveway. In the fall, choose that special pumpkin from hundreds that come straight from the pumpkin patch. The Blackies also have a flock of 50 registered purebred British-style Suffolk sheep on their farm as well as a yarn shop.
