This is your introduction to the Restigouche region. Since the 1850s, the rich and famous have been coming to our river to fish for Atlantic salmon. Learn about them and other aspects of our area through recently upgraded displays, some interactive. There is also a gallery for temporary exhibitions and a great gift shop. We also have exclusive Black Bear hunting territory and are situated in the best hunting country in New Brunswick for Moose, Deer and Upland game birds as well. Our family vacation packages have become popular over the last couple of years making Long Lake Adventures a place with “something for everyone” who loves being outdoors like we do.

Quaco Head Lighthouse

Every lighthouse you see has a special attraction all its own and the Quaco Head Lighthouse is no exception. It stands on a scenic point with an excellent view of St. Martins' beach and the Fundy Trail coastline. This 1855 tower was replaced in 1966 and altered a decade later with a concrete structure. It's the perfect spot for a picnic and birdwatching. The Quaco Museum has several lighthouse artifacts, including the Fresnel lens from the old structure. Driving directions: Route 111 to St. Martins, West Quaco Road, turn left on Lighthouse Road.

Oak Point Lighthouse

In a province known for its scenic lighthouses, the Oak Point Lighthouse stands out. Built in 1869, this tower is the highest light on the beautiful St. John River. At 14.6 m (48 ft.) high, for years it stood guard over the sometimes-treacherous waters of this magnificent river. Modern navigational tools mean this original, wooden, salt-shaker-style tower is no longer in use. Although the light has been removed, the Oak Point Lighthouse remains as a beacon from the past. Located just minutes away is Evandale, home of a historic riverboat hotel.

The Water Street Farmers Market, located in the former town of Chatham (now part of the city of Miramichi), is known for its warmth and hospitality. Open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm year round (except Jan-Feb), it features quality handcrafted wares—knitting, crochet, woodworking, pottery, handmade soaps, needlepoint, fine stitchery and quilts. Food vendors offer home-cooked breakfasts, baked goods and specialty desserts, canned and pickled fruit and vegetables, meats, produce and bedding plants.

Myers Church

Lovely historical church built in 1889, facing the sea, the Myers United Church is home to the Myers Community Centre. The Hardwicke Community Group at Myers develops and coordinates community activities at the Myers Community Centre, including showing the "Still Fishing - Beyond the Escuminac Disaster" documentary and a yearly memorial service for the Escuminac Disaster.

Ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts, well-known for trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Enjoy the biking trail and picnic area along Route 144 and drive up to visit the Pointu de la rivière Verte lookout, a park with trails and an observation tower offering a splendid 360-degree view on the entire region. In the fall, the splendid landscape transforms itself into a symphony of colors.

Aboiteau Beach was the first saltwater beach in Canada to get the blue flag certification (in 2018), and in 2023 it was the first beach in Eastern Canada to receive the Rainbow Registered certification. Aboiteau Beach has everything you need for a relaxing family holiday. A short stroll along the boardwalk will take you anywhere you want to go. Walk the 5 km (3 mi.) long shoreline, go for a swim in the warm saltwater, or play a game of beach volleyball. You can also enjoy a delicious seafood dinner overlooking the ocean.

Owens Art Gallery

The Owens Art Gallery, established in 1895 on the campus of Mount Allison University, is Canada's oldest university art gallery. Changing exhibitions highlight contemporary and historical art by regional, national and international artists. Also featured is a permanent exhibition devoted to the work of Alex Colville. The Owens presents a variety of artists' talks, workshops and special events throughout the year and regular programs for children and families. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Irishtown Nature Park offers kilometres of maintained trails. Interpretive signage showcasing the park as the city's first water supply is installed along a multi-use trail accessible for walkers, joggers, wheelchairs and cycling. Trails are groomed for walking in the winter. The park's trails are also excellent for bird watching. A feeding station maintained year-round attracts many species: chickadees, nuthatches, yellow finches, purple finches, hairy and downy woodpeckers, and doves.

This award-winning facility offers the opportunity to experience wetlands by participating in innovative educational programs or exploring the site's 1.5 km (1 mi.) of trails. The centre was established in 1998 to promote wetland conservation through education. The 15-hectare (37-acre) site provides quality habitat for an amazing diversity of life and functions as an outdoor classroom for the local schools. The Sentier NB Trail runs through the city and surrounding area, offering scenic views and wonderful photographic opportunities. Connecting to, or located beside the trail, are the Municipal Visitor Information Centre, restaurants, accommodation and shopping. Parking is available at several points along the trail.The walkways of Coronation, Richelieu and Harbourview parks are part of a linear park network offering walking enthusiasts a tour of downtown Bathurst. Nearby Daly Point Nature Reserve offers 6 km (4 mi.) of trails amidst a variety of flora and fauna.

Close to ATV and snowmobile trails, Pioneer Lodge is a great escape from city living!
