Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre

SSANC is a registered not-for-profit community cultural center, situated in a historic building on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay.

Our town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea is a community renowned for its natural beauty, historic past and diversity of artists. In operation since 1964, Sunbury Shores' unique mandate is to explore the connections between art and nature. It offers courses and workshops for all ages and abilities, using the rich, natural environment of the region as a source of artistic inspiration and environmental exploration. We feature two galleries for art exhibitions, featuring community, Maritime, national and international artists; offer occasional talks, explorations, and interactive activities, classes, and workshops for children, youth, and adults. The centre  also houses artists' studios: a printmaking shop; a ceramics studio; a jewelry/metal studio, plus reference library, an ocean-view terrace, and administrative offices. In addition, the centre offers occasional contemporary music concerts and other events.

Sunbury Shores is licensed for fundraising and private gatherings. We maintain a woodlot and nature trail less than a kilometre from the centre, containing examples of Acadian forest species mixed with successional stages of a former domestic small farm property. The facility is open year-round, with wheelchair access and stairlift.
