Whether you stop for a day or two, or for the rest of your life, Sackville has magical qualities of peace and contentment. Cars slow down as you cross the street. People wave hello. The marsh breezes blow, birds sing their praises. Even time lets out a little sigh of relief.
Sackville is blessed with an extraordinary range of cultural treats, from original Canadian plays to arts and music festivals; SappyFest, Live Bait Theatre, boutique shopping, art workshops, dinner theatre and some wonderful little cafes in which to sit and talk and think... to do all the things you have no time for at home (unless you live here!). Artist Alex Colville studied and taught here, and this is where his wonderful magic reality may have begun. The Owens Art Gallery is the oldest university art gallery in Canada. Sackville artists work in pottery, glass, canvas, paper and fabric. The Fog Forest Gallery, Struts Gallery, Rob Lyons Gallery, Earth Gallery and the Craft Gallery offer worthy artistic value and are highly-acclaimed. The Boultenhouse Heritage Centre details Sackville's shipbuilding heritage.
The award-winning Sackville Waterfowl Park has trails, boardwalks and viewing platforms. Sackville is a book to be read, a marsh to be wandered upon. There are specialty shops and restaurants delights.
