White Head Island is accessible several times a day from Grand Manan Island at Ingalls Head via the MV William Frankland Ferry. The crossing (approximately 20 minutes) is free of charge. The ferry carries 45 passengers and 9 cars. White Head Island is a quiet fishing community of approximately 180 residents, mainly fishermen and their families. The 6-km (4-mi.) road goes around two-thirds of the island. A lighthouse, a sandy beach and a rocky coast can be found on the "back" of the island. This is an excellent location for birdwatching, hiking, biking and touring.

The Nature Trust of New Brunswick has conserved three nature preserves (Thomas B. Munro Memorial Shoreline Nature Preserve, Meredith Houseworth Memorial Seashore Nature Preserve, and Seven Days Work Cliff Nature Preserve) on Grand Manan, all of which encompass parts of the Red Trail, a 17-km (10.5-mi) long trail system that runs along the coast of the island. Grotto and Calvary

Since 1878 and 1882 respectively, the Grotto and Calvary have served as a place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary, patron saint of the Acadians. Each year on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption, a procession or a mass is held on the wharf near the Grotto. Nestled on the hillside overlooking the river and surrounded by a mature Acadian forest, you will find the Grotto and Calvary with monuments, original statues and stone walls. During the first World Acadian Congress in 1994, 3,000 people gathered in this location for the raising of the Acadian flag.
