Located 40 km (25 mi.) from Edmundston and Grand Falls/Grand-Sault, the Experimental Forest is not only a natural laboratory for the forestry students of l'Université de Moncton (Edmundston Campus), but also a beautiful forest environment to explore and enjoy. It's a wonderful place to marvel at nature's beauty, season after season. The 8.3 sq. km (3.2 sq. mi.) forest has over 16 km (10 mi.) of trails designed for walks, introduction to natural sciences, wildlife viewing and active sports such as hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and mountain biking.

At the centre, nestled on the north bank of the Saint John River, you can stand on the deck and marvel as you spot osprey, waterfowl, and even a Bald Eagle or two! You can also enjoy the lovely view of the city of Fredericton, directly across the river. Friendly staff, with the help of hands-on exhibits, will answer your questions. Built with donations of material and time, this centre is a true community venture.

Fundy Footpath

The footpath is a challenging wilderness trail that starts at the Fundy Trail suspension footbridge at Big Salmon River, near St. Martins, and hugs the coastline to Fundy National Park, near Alma. The eastern and western sections of the Fundy Footpath form a continuous trail from beginning to end. The rugged Fundy terrain leads up and down from an elevation of 0 to 300 m (984 ft.) across a dozen ravines and 2 tidal rivers that can only be crossed during low tide.

A boat launch and docking facilities are accessible for boating enthusiasts. Lifeguards are on duty for the summer months. Meenan's Cove Beach House, located on the water, is available for bookings and features a large deck, kitchen facilities, washrooms, and a propane fireplace.

This former railbed, part of the Trans-Canada Trail system, links Sackville with the village of Port Elgin. The trail begins at a dyked wetland behind Tantramar Regional High School, then skirts the Tantramar Marsh. After crossing several working farms near Midgic, the trail then passes through an isolated stretch of boreal forest, before emerging at Route 16 near the community of Baie Verte.
