Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point

Located in the picturesque fishing village of Blacks Harbour near the Grand Manan Island ferry, Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point is a beautiful example of the diversity and ecological significance linked to the world-famous Bay of Fundy tides. Explore the natural and geological features found in the preserve and along the 2 km (1.2 mi) stretch of coastline. Feel free to cross to the Pea Point Lighthouse (first lit in 1878) on Pea Island during low tide, but keep your eye on the tides to avoid getting stuck!

Aboiteau Beach was the first saltwater beach in Canada to get the blue flag certification (in 2018), and in 2023 it was the first beach in Eastern Canada to receive the Rainbow Registered certification. Walk the 5 km (3 mi.) long shoreline, go for a swim in the warm saltwater, or play a game of beach volleyball. You can also enjoy a delicious seafood dinner overlooking the ocean.

Owens Art Gallery

The Owens Art Gallery, established in 1895 on the campus of Mount Allison University, is Canada's oldest university art gallery. Changing exhibitions highlight contemporary and historical art by regional, national and international artists. Also featured is a permanent exhibition devoted to the work of Alex Colville. The Owens presents a variety of artists' talks, workshops and special events throughout the year and regular programs for children and families. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Cyr Historical House

The Cyr house, the oldest house in Madawaska County, was built by Alexis Cyr between 1825 and 1830 in Saint-Basile. It is a true example of the building methods used by the first Acadian settlers. Passed on from generation to generation until 1983, the house was purchased by the Madawaska Historical Society and moved to its current location. The Alexis-Cyr House is an important testament to life in the olden days of the colony.

An 18th-century Victorian home houses artifacts from 1850 onward. The famous painting by H. W. Hoyt “Portrait of Francis Peabody," founder of the town of Chatham, a history of the Loggie family and First World War artifacts are found here. The original World War I Victory Flag may be of particular interest.The house is used for meetings, craft sales, teas and many social events. Doak House

The Doak Provincial Heritage Site commemorates Scottish entrepreneur Robert Doak and his family, who moved to the Upper Miramichi River area in the early 1820s. He established a carding mill, grist mill, sawmill and was involved in the affairs of his adopted community, which in 1854 was renamed "Doaktown" in his honour. Visit Doak House and note the architectural importance of its buildings and the richness of its original furniture preserved by several generations of the Doak Family.
