Paquetville (Hautes-Terres)

The village of Paquetville, birthplace of singer/songwriter, Édith Butler, is situated inland and is surrounded by the Caraquet and Pokemouche rivers, which are well known to sport-fishing enthusiasts. The stately Saint-Augustin church, atop Du Parc street, is one of the largest stone churches in the Maritimes. Paquetville is known for its restaurants, stores and maple products. Pointe-Sapin Lighthouse (Rear Range)

This 1903 salt-shaker style lighthouse has a yellow navigation light. It is located on the Acadian Coastal Drive, 8 km (5 mi.) north of Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada, located on a very small parcel of land adjacent to residential properties. For your enjoyment, there is a beach across the road. There is limited parking. This lighthouse is operational and an active aid to navigation. It has a square white pyramidal shaped wooden tower with a red-square lantern and a red-vertical stripe on the corner facing the alignment.

Camping du Resto-Relais Godin

Small seaside campground located in the village of Maisonnette, just 46 metres from a sandy beach and adjacent to a beautiful municipal park featuring a playground and picnic areas.

Saint-Hilaire (Haut-Madawaska)

Founded in 1869, Saint-Hilaire is one of the oldest parishes in the “Acadia of the Land and Forests” region. The village was named after Hilaire Cyr, who had donated the land to build the first Catholic church. The Saint-Hilaire rectory, beside the church, is now home to an art gallery. Saint-Hilaire and the surrounding area is a fertile ground for many great stories. Did you know that during the prohibition, Saint-Hilaire was one of the top places for smuggling alcohol? There transited the famous "Hand Brand", a strong liquor from the French islands of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.

Gagetown Ferry

Seasonal toll-free service operated by the provincial government between Gagetown and Scovil (Lower Jemseg). This cable ferry takes you on a short (less than 5 minutes) ride across the majestic Saint John River, linking the historical and artsy Village of Gagetown with prime birdwatching at Grand Lake Meadows Protected Natural Area, New Brunswick’s largest freshwater wetland.

Honourable William Henry Steeves House Museum

The Steeves House Museum is a vital stop for those interested in Canada's Confederation, the Steeves Family, and the Village of Hillsborough. In 1812 Joseph Steeves, grandson of 1766 settlers, built this home. His son, William Henry Steeves, became a Father of Confederation. The house was later home to managers of the Gypsum Company; then in 1982, it became a museum, which contains thousands of enchanting artifacts. Available: tours, genealogy, grounds, and room for rental.

Théâtre populaire d'Acadie

A dynamic centre of creation, hosting, and staging of professional theatre, Théâtre populaire d'Acadie has offered a wide variety of programs for over 50 years. Although it focusses mainly on the creation of original Acadian works, this theatre group also offers contemporary and classical repertoire. In its years of existence, the company has produced and presented more than 130 plays for either the general public or young audiences.

Sussex Craft Distillery

Sussex Craft Distillery produces small-batch spirits using high-quality, locally sourced New Brunswick ingredients. Their signature product, Northern Comfort, is a maple rum liqueur made with molasses from Crosby’s Molasses in Saint John and Steeves’ maple syrup from Elgin. The rum is aged with a blend of spices and roasted sugar maple hardwood from the Acadian Forest region of southern New Brunswick. Stop by their shop to explore a wide selection, and enjoy their backyard bar during the summer months.
