The International Appalachian Trail is a 3,058 km (1,900 mi.) trail running from Maine to Newfoundland. The New Brunswick portion of the trail enters New Brunswick at the border of Fort Fairfield, Maine and Perth-Andover. It tracks northeast through Mount Carleton Provincial Park and up and over the highest point in the Maritimes. The trail then leads north to Tide Head and crosses into Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula at Matapédia.

The Sureau Blanc Cross Country Ski Club started in 1980 in a small cabin in the woods. It now has a lodge with heat, power and kitchenette, 13 km (8 mi.) of cross-country ski trails, snowshoe trails, over 300 members and 20 certified coaches, including provincial coach Manon Losier. This very active and dynamic club is managed by a committee of volunteers. Their goal: getting people to enjoy winter by offering quality trails, interesting programs and fun activities. With well-trained coaches and equipment available at a low cost, the youth programming is highly popular in the community.

Grand Manan Nature Preserves - Red Trail System

The Nature Trust of New Brunswick has conserved three nature preserves (Thomas B. Munro Memorial Shoreline Nature Preserve, Meredith Houseworth Memorial Seashore Nature Preserve, and Seven Days Work Cliff Nature Preserve) on Grand Manan, all of which encompass parts of the Red Trail, a 17-km (10.5-mi) long trail system that runs along the coast of the island. PROVINCIAL HERITAGE PLACE Founded in 1872 and dedicated to Our Lady of Petit-Sault or Our Lady of Madawaska, the parish of the Immaculate Conception was officially established in 1880 and the first church was built in 1881. The construction of the church began during the summer of 1924 and ended in February 1927. It was blessed on February 20, 1927, by Bishop Edouard LeBlanc from Saint John, New Brunswick. At that time it was decided not to immediately complete the finishing touches to the interior of the new church.

While the preserve’s main ecological feature is its rugged, undeveloped coastline, with shale and sandstone cliffs, ledges and reefs, it also offers the opportunity to explore a mature, mixed coastal forest.

The footpath is a challenging wilderness trail that starts at the Fundy Trail suspension footbridge at Big Salmon River, near St. Martins, and hugs the coastline to Fundy National Park, near Alma. The eastern and western sections of the Fundy Footpath form a continuous trail from beginning to end. The rugged Fundy terrain leads up and down from an elevation of 0 to 300 m (984 ft.) across a dozen ravines and 2 tidal rivers that can only be crossed during low tide.
