The World's Largest Lobster

Shediac is recognized the world over as "The Lobster Capital of the World" for its lobster fishing industry. For that reason, in 1989 the Shediac Rotary Club thought it fitting to erect a monument in tribute of the delectable crustacean and promote its role in the development of our community. The late Winston Bronnum from Penobquis, New Brunswick, was commissioned to create this magnificent showpiece. The monument stands at 11 m (35 ft.) in length, 5 m (16 ft.) in width and 5 m (16 ft.) in height.

Third Space Gallery

Galerie Tiers-espace / Third Space Gallery is the only artist-run centre in Saint John. Unlike a traditional gallery, it is not confined to one exhibition space, but chooses to work with the city's wider community for both the production and presentation of contemporary art. Interdisciplinary in practice, the gallery works with local, regional and national professional artists to raise the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through exploratory, challenging and critical projects.

Tidal Bore

Caused by the Bay of Fundy tides, the Tidal Bore occurs twice daily. Watch the water in the Petitcodiac River roll back upstream in one wave that can go up to 60 cm in height! Estimated Tidal Bore times online and at the Visitor Information Centre beside Bore Park, downtown Moncton. Please note: Many factors may affect the time of the Bore by 15 to 20 minutes before or after the scheduled arrival time. Arrive early!

Grand Bay-Westfield

Located in southwestern New Brunswick along the beautiful Saint John River, you will find the town of Grand Bay-Westfield, the result of the two, originally separate, villages being officially merged in 1998. A growing community, Grand Bay-Westfield is the gateway to the Lower St. John River Valley. The town also has a ferry landing at the end of Ferry Road where the cable ferry connects Grand Bay-Westfield with the community of Hardings Point, across the river on the Kingston Peninsula. Hartland

The Saint John River has been the lifeline of this town since it was established in the early 1800s. Once an important trade route for French, English and Aboriginal traders, the river today is known for leisure pursuits including fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and pleasure boating. Along its banks are roads that follow the river to neighbouring towns, with spectacular views year round. The Upper St. John River Valley Trail (part of the Trans-Canada Trail) runs through town and is used by cyclists, hikers, ATVs and snowmobiles.

Lamèque

Take a leisurely drive to this scenic Acadian island. Situated off the coast of northeastern New Brunswick, Lamèque separates the waters of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and Chaleur Bay. With the wealth of quiet, sandy beaches here, you'll have no shortage of options to find the perfect spot to soak up some sun! Nackawic

Nackawic is a young community with deep historic roots. Carved out of the land where the Nackawic Stream meets the Saint John River, this area has ties to the Loyalists who first farmed the land centuries ago. Many of their original homes can be seen today at Kings Landing, a bustling living-history village. The town of Nackawic was created in the late 60s out of necessity.
