The ferry carries 45 passengers and 9 cars. White Head Island is a quiet fishing community of approximately 180 residents. The 6-km (4-mi.) road goes around two-thirds of the island. A lighthouse, sandy beach and rocky coast are found on the island, an excellent location for birdwatching, hiking, and biking.
