Cape Enrage

The Bay of Fundy is one of the Marine Wonders of the World with tides rising as much as 16.3 m (53 vertical feet) over a 12-hour period twice each day. Cape Enrage offers one of the most spectacular views of the natural phenomenon from its towering cliffs and has been a light station and fog alarm since 1838. We are proudly part of the Fundy Biosphere Reserve and the Fundy Coastal Drive Experience. Along with its natural beauty, Cape Enrage also offers family-friendly adventures!

Belding's Reef Nature Preserve

Located west of Saint John and within the fishing community of Chance Harbour, the Belding’s Reef Nature Preserve covers a portion of a peninsula on the Bay of Fundy. This nature preserve can be explored by way of an easy, 0.9 km (0.6 mi) hiking trail, which follows the rocky coastline to a navigational light, offering spectacular views of the Bay of Fundy along the way. While the preserve’s main ecological feature is its rugged, undeveloped coastline, with shale and sandstone cliffs, ledges and reefs, it also offers the opportunity to explore a mature, mixed coastal forest.

City of Saint John

Cape Enrage Nature Preserve

Saint Croix Island

INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC SITE In 1604, Pierre Dugua (sieur de Mons) chose Saint Croix Island for settlement, an event that symbolizes the founding of 'Acadie.' Because of the island's isolation and the unusually harsh winter, nearly half of the colonists succumbed to scurvy. The following year, de Mons relocated his colony across the Bay of Fundy to Port Royal in Nova Scotia.

Cottage on the Beach

Cottage on the Beach is located on the Alma Beach with its own private access to the shore of the magnificent Bay of Fundy. It's an ideal location for watching shorebirds, Bald eagles and Peregrine falcons. Located only a short walk to the entrance of Fundy National Park of Canada, and 50 km (31 mi.) from the provincial landmark of The Hopewell Rocks at Hopewell Cape. You can sit in the solarium and enjoy the beautiful view of the fishing boats sailing by, bringing in their daily catch or enjoy the variety of sights that our famous 15-m (50-ft.) tides offer from the deck.

Captains Lookout Cottages

Six rustic pine cottages high on a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Fundy. Adorable one- and two-bedroom cabins with cathedral ceilings and all the comforts of home. Enjoy panoramic views of the bay, beautiful sunrises from your own deck and peaceful, quiet beaches. Kilometres (miles) of coastline are just a 10-minute walk from the cottages, and a mixed freshwater/saltwater lake is a short hike from the backyard. Captain's Lookout Cottages are close to Fundy National Park, the village of Alma, Cape Enrage and The Hopewell Rocks.

Reversing Falls Rapids

A unique phenomenon created by the collision of the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River. At low tide the river empties into the bay causing a series of rapids and whirlpools. As tides rise they slow the river current for a brief period called slack tide. The Bay's tides continue to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river; rapids form again, peaking at high tide. A 8.5-metre (28-foot) tide cycle is roughly 12.5 hours.

Riverside-Albert

Situated on the Shepody River, this quaint cultural community is ideally located for nature lovers and travellers looking to explore the upper Bay of Fundy and its numerous attractions. Fundy National Park, The Hopewell Rocks, Mary's Point Shorebird Interpretation Centre and Cape Enrage are all within a 20 minute drive from the village. Each season brings with it a variety of unique activities, making it an optimal location for year-round enjoyment.

Hole-in-the-Wall

The Hole in the Wall rock arch is a landmark attraction carved by the magnificent Bay of Fundy. Visit this privately owned hiking park to see the arch, along with hiking trails and viewing decks that overlook herring weirs and offer unmatched views of the Bay of Fundy. Keep a lookout, because there’s always the possibility of a whale sighting! A special treat for children is the Discovery Trail, a 10-minute walk to the rock arch where keen eyes can spot objects waiting to be discovered.

Seascape's kayak trips are designed to introduce paddlers of any experience level to the biodiversity of the Bay of Fundy's unique ocean ecosystem.

Vista Ridge Cottages

Vista Ridge cottages are located in the village of Alma, adjacent to Fundy National Park. Our cottages overlook the mighty tides of the Bay of Fundy and are open year round. The cottages are pet friendly and feature three separate bedrooms, full kitchen and bath, electric fire place, satellite television, wireless Internet and private campfire pits. Ideally situated, the cottages are within walking distance to village shops, restaurants and Alma Beach. Winter time offers skating at the outdoor rink as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on Fundy Park's groomed trails.

Deer Island - Campobello Island Ferry

Privately operated, toll ferries run between Deer Island and Campobello Island. Sail beautiful Passamaquoddy Bay, a unique corner of the Bay of Fundy. Join us for a day trip around the Quoddy Loop. Our service is the link that makes the loop complete. "The Old Sow," the largest tidal whirlpool in North America, can be seen from Deer Island Point Park, near our ferry landing. After Labour Day our schedule depends on weather and traffic volume. You might want to call ahead if travelling during this period.

Algonquin Golf Course

Situated along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean's Passamaquoddy Bay the 18 hole, 7,100 yard, par 72 Algonquin Golf Course has been redesigned by Canadian golf architect Rod Whitman. Whitman's redesign has accentuated the natural beauty of the Bay of Fundy, resculpting the course to optimize the golf experience and ocean views. Full-service clubhouse, pro-shop, golf carts, club rentals, showers, practice facility, short-game area, driving range, golf lessons, CPGA professionals. Open May through October.

Deer Island

Experience Island Life! This is the first stop on your tour of the Fundy Isles. Drive aboard the ferry at Letete, near St. George, for a trip to Deer Island, where the incredible tidal current of the Bay of Fundy creates unlimited adventure. While on the island be sure to visit Deer Island Point Park and Eagle Shadow Hiking Trail at Chocolate Cove for breathtaking views and some lovely spots to have a picnic.
