The Elgin Eco Association (EEA) has a park and a 30+ km network of well-maintained singletrack trails for mountain biking and hiking, and with over 15 km groomed in the winter for fat biking and snowshoeing. Many of the fast and flowy trails are machine built with features such as rollers, jumps, and berms, plus a pump track at the parking area. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, an avid mountain biker, or a winter adventurer, Elgin’s trails offer scenic beauty and outdoor excitement.

The Place des Pionniers (Pioneers Place) is a small-scale reproduction of the village of Saint-François, formerly known as Ledges. Johnson’s Mills Shorebird Reserve and Interpretive Centre

Johnson's Mills is a critical feeding and resting site for the shorebirds that fly through the Bay of Fundy on their fall migration. Approximately half of the world's population of semipalmated sandpipers feed on the mudflats during peak migration (mid August). The best time to see the birds is two hours before, to two hours after high tide. Managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Johnson's Mills Shorebird Interpretive Centre is located 8 km (5 mi.) from the Village of Dorchester.

Priceville Suspension Footbridge

The first bridge was built in 1938 and was 200 m (656 ft.) long. It incurred high-water damage in May 1939, and was rebuilt, higher, with a pier in the middle. This bridge was upgraded in 1961, and then replaced in 1988. Enjoy beautiful views on the Miramichi river from the footbridge and the picturesque countryside. The bridge can be crossed on foot, but there is a parking nearby. ATV and snowmobile trails are just a few steps away.

Saint Croix Island

INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC SITE In 1604, Pierre Dugua (sieur de Mons) chose Saint Croix Island for settlement, an event that symbolizes the founding of 'Acadie.' Because of the island's isolation and the unusually harsh winter, nearly half of the colonists succumbed to scurvy. The following year, de Mons relocated his colony across the Bay of Fundy to Port Royal in Nova Scotia.

Lillas Fawcett Park and Silver Lake provide the ideal spot for freshwater swimming, boating and fishing. During the summer months, the accessible swimming area is clearly marked and a lifeguard is on duty during the afternoons. Lillas Fawcett Park features recently built changing stations, a natural playground, and kayak and paddleboard rentals. Boaters, canoers, kayakers have access to the large lake via a public ramp and accessible dock. Try trout fishing at Silver Lake as well.

Sugarloaf Provincial Park Ski Hill

Visit Sugarloaf Provincial Park for your next skiing adventure! You will find 13 Alpine ski trails ranging from beginner to expert, one quadruple chairlift, 2 T-bars and one pony lift. The ski slope has a vertical drop of 155 m (507 ft.) with the longest run at 1,070 m (3,510 ft.). The hill also includes a terrain park with exciting features, great for all the freeride enthusiasts. A ski school with certified instructors for alpine skiing and snowboarding is open for your convenience, with safety provided by the Canadian Ski Patrol. Helmets are mandatory at Sugarloaf.

For many years, the Richibucto River Historical Society has been a collector of great amounts of local history and artefacts. The idea of the historical society is said to have spawned from a school reunion of former teachers. They decided to document some of Rexton’s early history, which in turn initiated the writing of “The History of Old Kingston” by Edward L. Gallagher.

The St. Croix River is 185 km (115 mi.) of water that runs from Monument Brook and North Lake to St. Andrews and to the Passamaquoddy Bay, to the Bay of Fundy. This Canadian Heritage River marks the international boundary between New Brunswick and the State of Maine in the USA. The Peskotomuhkati Nation and other First Peoples have lived along the river for more than 4000 years.

Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska is a picturesque village nestled in the slopes of the Appalachians. From east or west, the enormous and magnificent Sainte-Anne church can be spotted far away on the horizon. Built in 1923, it can accommodate more than 1,000 people at a time. Discover Madawaska's flora and fauna by visiting the region's experimental forest. It mainly serves as a field site for the students and researchers from the faculty of forestry at the Edmundston campus of the Université de Moncton, but it is also open to the public.

PROVINCIAL HERITAGE PLACE Built in 1841 on a rocky outcrop where the Madawaska and the St. John River meet, this small fort overlooking the City of Edmundston was part of the British defensive line during the boundary dispute between England and the United States. That conflict, known as the “Aroostook Bloodless War,” ended in 1842 when the Ashburton-Webster Treaty was signed. Destroyed by lightning in 1855, the blockhouse was rebuilt in 2000 in accordance with original specifications.
