The village was named after Hilaire Cyr, who had donated the land to build the first Catholic church. The Saint-Hilaire rectory, beside the church, is now home to an art gallery. Saint-Hilaire and the surrounding area is a fertile ground for many great stories. Did you know that during the prohibition, Saint-Hilaire was one of the top places for smuggling alcohol? There transited the famous "Hand Brand", a strong liquor from the French islands of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.

Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point

Located in the picturesque fishing village of Blacks Harbour near the Grand Manan Island ferry, Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point is a beautiful example of the diversity and ecological significance linked to the world-famous Bay of Fundy tides. Explore the natural and geological features found in the preserve and along the 2 km (1.2 mi) stretch of coastline. Feel free to cross to the Pea Point Lighthouse (first lit in 1878) on Pea Island during low tide, but keep your eye on the tides to avoid getting stuck!

Built in 1943, this covered bridge is 31 m (100 ft.) in length. Driving directions: Route 2, Exit 433, Route 112 South 5 km (3 mi.), Route 895 South 5.2 km (3.2 mi.), onto Colpitts Road, near Salisbury. (Not in service; private property)

Cyr Historical House

The Cyr house, the oldest house in Madawaska County, was built by Alexis Cyr between 1825. It is a true example of the building methods used by the first Acadian settlers.Passed on from generation to generation until 1983, the house was purchased by the Madawaska Historical Society and moved to its current location.The Alexis-Cyr House is an important testament to life in the olden days of the colony.
