What's your name, location (if you are originally from a different part of the province, please let us know as well!)
My name is Alex Mayberry. I was born and raised in Rothesay around the Saint John area. I moved to Fredericton for postsecondary then moved back to Saint John and have been here since.
What's your favourite place to visit in the province, and why?
My favourite place to visit in New Brunswick is the Fundy Trail. It is otherworldly beautiful to me. I am shocked every time I visit and can’t believe it's less than an hour away from home for me. Jaw-dropping coastlines, epic mountain hiking and gorgeous driving scenery. I buy a yearly park pass every year and spend my summers hiking the Fundy Footpath or the Hearst Lodge Scenic Footpath.
What's something about New Brunswick that you wish the rest of the country knew about?
The food! I personally think New Brunswick has some of the best food in Canada and maybe even the world. We have the ocean and Bay of Fundy on our doorstep and vast farm lands surrounded by untouched forests. We have a perfect climate for growing hearty root vegetables, warm enough summers for juiciest field berries and notably some of the best seafood in the world. On top of that we have world-renowned beef, some incredible cheesemakers, and lots of artisan delicatessen.
What's your favourite "made in New Brunswick" food/drink?
My favourite NB product would have to be local, freshly picked, warm from the sun strawberries. I look forward to strawberry season all year long. Paired classically with some fresh whipped NB cream, some early harvest wildflower honey and maybe a few lavender flowers.
Is there a part of the province you haven't been to yet, that you'd like to visit? Tell us why!
I mostly stick to the Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton area. I am hoping to get to Grand Manan Island and Saint Andrews this summer. I would love to travel north of the province to Miscou Island or hiking along the Miramichi River.
