The Steeves House Museum is a vital stop for those interested in Canada's Confederation, the Steeves Family, and the Village of Hillsborough. In 1812 Joseph Steeves, grandson of 1766 settlers, built this home. His son, William Henry Steeves, became a Father of Confederation. The house was later home to managers of the Gypsum Company; then in 1982, it became a museum, which contains thousands of enchanting artifacts. Museum of the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph

A permanent exhibition attests to the presence of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph and their works in Saint-Basile from 1873. Artifacts were, at one time or another, used by the sisters' community at the hospital and in the classrooms. The museum is located in the Heritage room, under the chapel of the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph, which is a Provincial Historic Site now a seniors' residence and nursing home.

You can watch, step-by-step, how her pottery is made. Monique has been commissioned by the Province of New Brunswick to create their official Collection with the provincial flower, the purple violet. Many other designs can be found in the little boutique in her studio.

St. Michael's Museum and Genealogical Centre

PROVINCIAL HERITAGE PLACEThis building, constructed in 1846, marks the beginning of St. Michael's Parish of Chatham. From here the administration of the entire Roman Catholic diocese in northern New Brunswick took place. First Episcopal residence in 1860 and first Hôtel-Dieu hospital in 1869. Today it is a museum, genealogical research centre and religious supply shop.
